The Hoppy Adventures of Our Tripawd Brittany

Rusty is officially a Tripawd!

Thank you to everyone for your words of encouragement. I can’t believe I found this website and this amazing group of people who are so kind and supportive.

Rusty had his surgery today at 2:15 and it took about an hour and a half. Dr. Jackson came out and told us that the surgery had gone well and that everything looked good and that we could see Rusty. They brought him into an exam room wrapped in a fuzzy blanket and his little eyes were open so wide. He was of course on loads of drugs and he couldn’t even figure out how to retract his tongue – but there he was, my sweet boy and he was beautiful and precious and awake. I was so happy!

Rusty right after surgery.

I haven’t seen his incision site yet but I think that’s ok for today. I was just so relieved to see that he was doing well and was so happy to hold him (he did feel lighter). He is staying the night so they can monitor his progress. They will try to feed him at 2am and will try to take him out to potty. I will try not to call every hour!

I am so thankful that his surgery went well. Step One – Done. I can almost breathe again.

Me and my brave little guy

Brandy is day 10 post op. I remember that first call so well. She did great, I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. I am continuously awed by her strength.

Virginia & Brandy – Oh wow! Congratulations!! I am so happy to hear that your surgery was a success. That’s great inspiration this morning. Hopefully I will get to bring Rusty home today and start looking forward to day 10.

Absolutely, keep on breathing. One step at a time. Tripawds is an amazing community who helped through a rough fall. Osteosarcoma claimed one front paw, but he’s a happy, healthier boy now. We’ll keep you and your boy in our prayers.

      Danielle & Gerry,
What good news to hear today! I’m so glad he is doing well. Mr. Rusty is home and he is hungry and thirsty and I am so glad to have him here with us! He’s amazing! Thank you for writing to us – Amy & Rusty

You did a great thing! Bella is 3 1/2 weeks post op and we just got back from the park where she was loving being outside. Now Brandy’s healing can really begin. It’s a bit rough at first, but does get better. Plenty of love, rest and attention really does help.

A little late to the celebration that surgery is DONE and it went well!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 YAY FOR RUSTY!!

Stay connected and let us know how we can help during the recovery. It can be a bit rough for a few days and nights. Keep lots of CHOCOLATE on hand! It helps! 🙂

    Lots of hugs

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Sally & Co. – Thank you for celebrating with us. I’ll take your chocolate suggestion. I thought sitting in the waiting room with a bottle of Cabernet might look untoward! Last night was a bit rough Rusty had trouble getting or staying comfortable. Sometimes he just wanted to stand. I’m so ridiculously proud of him. Thanks again I’m sure I will need lots of help from everyone who has helped pave the way. ❤️ Amy & Rusty
